About the tool

Small text, explained clearly.

Small Text Generator is a focused browser-based utility for converting ordinary text into small caps, superscript, and subscript Unicode characters.

Last reviewed: September 20, 2026

What we maintain

  • The character mappings used by the three text styles.
  • Clear explanations of Unicode support and platform limitations.
  • A private, account-free conversion experience that runs in your browser.

How the mappings are reviewed

Each English letter and digit is matched to an available Unicode character that produces the intended small-cap, raised, or lowered appearance. When Unicode has no suitable or consistently displayed equivalent, the original character stays unchanged.

We test the mappings in modern browsers and document known gaps instead of pretending every character has a perfect equivalent. Appearance can still vary because apps and devices use different fonts.

Editorial approach

The site is written to answer practical questions about creating, copying, and using small Unicode text. We distinguish Unicode characters from real font sizing, explain accessibility tradeoffs, and link to primary sources when a platform rule or Unicode limitation needs support.

Corrections and feedback

If a mapping is incorrect, a character displays poorly, or an explanation is unclear, please contact us. Include a short non-sensitive example, the style you used, and the app or device where you saw the issue.

Privacy and ownership

Text conversion happens in your browser and does not require an account. Read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for the full site policies.
